The name and the voice: how you call a dachshund
Two syllables, always the same, spoken as if it were good news. The rest is noise, and this dog files it at once.
The name is not a label for humans. It is the sound that should turn the head. If you use it to scold, to call the dog to the table and to tell relatives how lovely it is, it becomes air. You choose it short. You say it clearly. At the start you pay, every time it comes. Later the pay thins out. The sound stays.
- Length
- Two syllables hold better than a novel. “Leo” works. “Leopold-come-here” does not.
- Tone
- High and glad to call. Low and still to stop. You do not shout the name: you spoil it.
- When
- You call for something good, or for nothing: a scrap, a touch, and you let the dog go again.
- Who
- The whole house uses the same name. Nicknames wait until it has already arrived.
A dachshund that turns its head to its name is already halfway. The rest is not spoiling that sound.
