Coming home

Microchip, booklet and papers: day one

Not paperwork for its own sake. It is the dog’s name, its vet, and the proof that it left from here.

The day the puppy comes home, a folder comes with it. Microchip, vaccine booklet, any certificates. It does not go in a drawer “for later”. It is read that evening, calmly, and the next day you call your own vet to introduce yourselves. We tell you what it has already received. The rest belongs to the doctor who will watch it grow.

Microchip
Already in before departure. The number is on the papers. It is registered in your name, as your local authority requires.
Vaccines
The course with us has begun. Later dates are the vet’s, not a webpage’s.
Pedigree
If the dog is registered, the paper does not always arrive on the same day as the puppy. We say so beforehand, in writing.
Passport
Needed for certain travel. If you need one, it is discussed before handover, not on the motorway.

Papers do not make the dog. They do say, in black and white, where it came from and who answers for it.
