When guests arrive
The puppy is not the entertainment. It is a dog still learning who belongs to the house, and who does not.
In the first weeks, every doorbell is an event. The dachshund comments, runs, sometimes barks as if it had a farm to defend. Guests who come in all at once and pick it up teach it that the door is a party. Then that party becomes a problem, every time the courier passes.

Come in, ignore it for a minute
Coat, shoes, a low voice. The puppy comes on its own. Anyone who bends over it at once excites it, they do not reassure it.

In the arms, only if they know how
Chest and hindquarters. If the guest does not know, you say so, or you hold the dog.

It has a corner where it can leave the scene
The bed is not a stage. If it goes there, you leave it.
